ORCHESTRAL PLAYING DAY 23rd OCTOBER 2010 10am-5pm
Penzance Orchestral Society is holding its 7th Playing Day on Saturday 23rd October
It will be held at: Humphry Davy School, Coombe Road, Penzance TR18 2TG
The morning session will run from 10.00 – 1.00 with a break for coffee. This session is aimed at experienced players and students of approximately grade 4+. It will be conducted by Judith Bailey and the programme will consist of The Pirates of Penzance Overture and Tchaikowsky’s Ballet Suite Swan Lake.
There will be a lunch break from 1.00 – 2.00 when pasties and fruit will be available as well as hot and cold drinks.
The afternoon session will run from 2.00 – 5.00 with a break for tea. This session is aimed at younger, less experienced players who will join with the morning orchestra to play the Fantasia on British Sea Songs by Sir Henry Wood. There will be simple parts for beginner players. This session will be run by Liz Vosper.
Parents and friends will be welcome to come and listen to the play-through at 4.15 which will finish by 5pm.
We will be happy to welcome musicians of all ages and levels of experience who would like the opportunity to play in a full symphony orchestra
There will be a charge of £10 for the full day or £5 for the afternoon only. Lunch (pasties and fruit) and drinks will be provided. If you wish to come for the afternoon only you are welcome to join us for lunch at 1.00. There is no extra charge.
We need to know how many players to cater for and would be grateful if you would complete and return the attached slip with your payment of £10 or £5 per player to Liz Gregg by 20th October. Cheques should be made payable to Penzance Orchestral Society.
